RAINDROPS

Our teachers always tell us we’re like a rain drops in the ocean .
We’re really small and insignificant compared to the vast waters below ,
But that one rain drop can cause ripples,
And those ripples can have effects that have never been seen before.

They tell us that our ripples depend on our choices.
We can have positive or negative effects on those around us
depending on our actions and inactions.

Our teachers tell us that one day we will change the world as we know it,
but first we have to believe that we can

I don’t know about my classmates, but I have dreams and goals.
I don’t want to just be one raindrop, I want to be a whole monsoon .

I want to shape the whole world into something better than it has ever been.
I want to change the way people think and act toward each other.
I want everyone to accept one another .

I want to stop the pain.
I want to stop the suffering.
I want to spread the joy,
And I want to spread peace.

But I am only one person and I cannot change the world alone.
I am not an idealist nor an optimist.
I am a realist and do you know what I realized ?

I realized no matter what things will remain the same,
Because people will never change.
They will continue to spread pain and suffering,
And I will never be able to make that much of a difference,

But what I can do is dream.
And I will dream of rain drops making ripples in the ocean.
